Minister DaCosta and Senior Leadership Tour Postal Service Facilities

The Minister for District Administration and Home Affairs, Hon. Nickolas DaCosta, JP, MP, together with senior officials from the Ministry, participated in a comprehensive facilities tour of the Cayman Islands Postal Service (CIPS), visiting multiple locations across Grand Cayman to engage directly with staff who
play a vital role in delivering one of the country’s most enduring public services. The tour provided the Minister and his delegation with firsthand insight into CIPS’s operations, customer service practices, and modernisation priorities.

The visit was hosted by Postmaster General Sheena Glasgow and Deputy Postmaster General Melissa Martinez-Ebanks. It included participation from Chief Officer Michael Ebanks, Deputy Chief Officers Debbie-Ann Whittaker and Christina McTaggart, Chief Financial Officer Nicola Anderson Wildman, and members of the Ministry’s core team.

The delegation began at the historic Central Post Office in the heart of George Town, where they were welcomed by management and frontline staff before travelling to other key sites. Discussions centred on innovative solutions to elevate service standards, data-driven customer care, and
opportunities to modernise workflows while preserving the institution’s heritage.

Postmaster General Sheena Glasgow thanked the Ministry’s leadership for the engagement and said, “The visit was a welcome opportunity to align on CIPS’s path forward”. She noted that “the tour provided a meaningful forum to discuss what the Postal Service needs to keep shining as a beacon of excellence — for our Islands, across the region, and on the global stage,” adding that “with the Ministry’s partnership, we will continue modernising with care, strengthening customer service, and delivering more value for the public we serve.”

At the Hell Post Office (West Bay) the discussion focussed on goals for expansion and modernisation; at the Seven Mile Beach Post Office the team reviewed customer-first approaches to strengthen reliability, grow usage, and improve satisfaction; and at the Airport Post Office — the largest facility on
Grand Cayman — the Minister reflected on the Postal Service’s place in national life and briefly joined staff at the sorting frames, underscoring the skill and purpose behind everyday operations.

Hon. Minister Nickolas DaCosta, JP, MP, said the visit reinforced the importance of safeguarding heritage while building for the future. “Our Postal Service is part of Cayman’s story — a legacy we intend to protect for generations,” he said. “At the same time, we’re focussed on delivering now and preparing for
tomorrow, using the Postal Service’s trusted network to create practical, people-first services that make life easier — while keeping access, reliability, and public value front and centre.”

Throughout the day, the team was briefed on operations, service innovations, and future development plans. They also met with frontline personnel to discuss daily responsibilities and the ongoing work to deliver today while preparing for tomorrow, in alignment with the Government’s broad outcomes.

Deputy Chief Officer Debbie-Ann Whittaker, the Ministry’s liaison for CIPS, underscored the role of partnership between the two entities. “Interagency collaboration is essential to CIPS’ success, and the way the Ministry engages with the Postal Service matters,” she said. “Providing the leadership, guidance,
and support CIPS requires will remain our priority as we align operations with the Government’s outcomes and a resilient, customer-focussed public service.”

The visit forms part of a series of agency and facility tours undertaken by Minister DaCosta and the MDAHA senior leadership team, aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration, recognising frontline achievements, and identifying opportunities to modernise systems and improve operations across the
Ministry’s portfolio.
